Joy Begs Alex To Keep Her and Johnny’s Affair a Secret — and Leo Asks for Javi’s Forgiveness

Rafe is at home drinking when Javi arrives and decides to join him. Javi asks how his first day back at work was. Rafe reveals he didn’t go back to work as he’s not the commissioner anymore, Jada is. He fills Javi in on what happened, and how he resigned after being offered his old job back.

Rafe switches the subject to Javi not coming home last night and assumes he had a hot date. Javi says he had one until the guy revealed himself to be a giant idiot. Rafe asks who the idiot is. Javi tells him it’s Leo, and Rafe assumed Gabi put an end to that. Javi says she tried, and he should have listened to her. Rafe asks what Leo did. Javi fills him in on Leo’s accusations and gets fired up telling the story. Rafe picks up on Javi being a little defensive and asks Javi if he is the new Lady Whistleblower.

Javi thinks it’s a good thing he’s not on the force anymore, as Rafe’s detective skills are rusty. Javi says he’s not Lady Whistleblower and insulted he’d ask. Plus, he’d come up with a better alias than Lady Whistleblower. He admits he’s hurt and angry as he liked Leo. Rafe asks why. Javi says he’s funny, sexy, and has this resilience about him. Rafe knows he’s hurting, but he dodged a bullet.

At the Salem PD, Paulina asks Jada if she has found Hattie Adams. Jada says they are doing everything they can to locate Hattie. Paulina thinks she and every other officer should be out there looking for her. Paulina wonders if she should regret her decision to keep Jada on as commissioner. Jada assures her that she’s doing everything she can to track down Hattie, including working with the health department and following up with other jurisdictions to track Hattie after she left Salem. She tells Paulina that if she’s not happy with her performance, then she can give the job back to Rafe.

Paulina calms down and asks Jada to forgive her for her tone. She says she doesn’t want to replace her and let her emotions get the most of her. This woman poisoned her husband, but she shouldn’t have taken her worry out on Jada. Jada understands and promises they will find Hattie Adams.

Later, Rafe stops by with some food, knowing Jada is in for a long night. She asks him how to deal with a helicopter mayor, as Paulina is one tough cookie. He advises she keep Paulina informed of the bare minimum. She asks what he’s been up to, and Rafe fills her in on hearing all about Javi’s drama with Leo.

Leo bursts into Marlena’s office, lamenting about his life being over. Marlena says they’ve been through this before, and asks what happened. Leo says his career and promising love life have both gone up in smoke. Marlena didn’t know he was in a relationship. Leo explains it was new, but he ruined it.

Leo tells her about Javi, the new Lady Whistleblower, and his accusation of Javi of being the snitch. He continues to explain how Javi poked holes in his story, and he realizes he jumped to the wrong conclusion. Javi wants nothing to do with him, and he doesn’t understand how he could be so stupid.

Marlena suspects that Dimitri hurt Leo so badly that he didn’t want to go through that again, so Leo sabotaged things with Javi. Leo doesn’t want to push people away anymore. Marlena says he may be subconsciously pushing people away. Leo just wants it to stop. Marlena says being in therapy is exactly what he needs to be doing to stop his self-sabotage. Leo asks if there is something he can do more immediately to make things better with Javi. Marlena suggests he apologize.

Later that evening, Paulina spots Marlena in Horton Square getting a cupcake. She mistakes her for Hattie and announces she’s making a citizen’s arrest. When she realizes the error she’s made, Paulina apologizes. Marlena tells her she understands and suggests she get her a nice herbal decaf tea.

At the DiMera mansion, EJ checks on his son, who is still in bed. Johnny’s recovering from the cupcakes, but it’s his cheating that’s eating him up. He says Joy is now in their lives professionally, and Chanel keeps inviting her over for dinner. He doesn’t know if he can go on like this.

Johnny gets dressed as EJ reminds him they both agreed nothing good could come of telling Chanel the truth. Johnny doesn’t know if he can keep lying and fears Chanel could find out what he did another way. He tells his father about Chanel catching him talking in his sleep about Joy and that he talked his way out of it this time. Johnny thinks he should come clean. EJ believes this is just a speed bump, and if he says something now, it could cost him everything. EJ can’t force him to do anything, but he needs to make the best decision for himself.

At Alex’s, Joy begs him not to tell anyone what she told him about her and Johnny. Suddenly, Chanel knocks on the door to check on Alex, and she has something to tell him. He says there is something he has to tell her, too.

Alex invites Chanel in, and she spots Joy. Joy explains she was running lines with Alex when he got sick. Chanel says that’s why she’s here, and it’s been proven the cupcakes did not come from Sweet Bits. She then asks Alex what he wants to tell her. Joy interrupts and asks how Johnny is doing, saying that he had a cupcake this morning. Chanel says he was feeling unwell too, and was talking about Joy in his sleep. She relays Johnny’s cover story about directing her in a scene, and even with food poisoning, he can’t stop working. She realizes how lucky she is to have Johnny in her life. She’s about to get back to her husband, but recalls Alex had something to say.

Alex simply tells Chanel that he doesn’t know if he’ll be well enough to work tomorrow. She reminds him tomorrow is Thanksgiving, so they have the day off. She suggests he get some rest and hydrate.

Chanel leaves, and Joy thanks Alex for not telling Chanel the truth. Alex says he didn’t do it for her. He did it for Chanel. However, part of him still thinks she deserves to know the truth. Joy begs Alex to keep this confidential, as what she and Johnny did will soon be in the past, and what Chanel doesn’t know can’t hurt her.

Chanel returns home and finds Johnny talking with EJ. She has good news and says the cupcakes have been proven not to have come from Sweet Bits. EJ leaves them to talk, and Chanel tells Johnny about stopping by Alex’s and finding Joy there. She thinks something is going on between them. He asks why she thinks that? Chanel says she just senses a vibe, and if something is going on between them, she’d be happy for Joy. Johnny stammers a bit in speaking but then tells Chanel how lucky he is to be married to someone like her.

Leo shows up at the Hernandez house with flowers, but Javi tries to slam the door in his face. Leo stops him, and explains these flowers saved Cassandra’s life on the soap, so he was hoping they’d save their relationship. Javi says they have no relationship. Leo explains how sorry he is, and he knows he has a lot of work to do on himself, but he really likes him. Leo was hoping Javi could give him one more chance. Javi tells him, “I don’t think so,” and shows him the door. Leo leaves and Javi is clearly uspet.
