While the prevailing theory that got Gabi out of jail on Days of Our Lives for Li’s murder had been that Gil killed him, that, if we’re being honest, doesn’t ring true to us. It’s just too out of left field, and while we’re glad it set Gabi free, we never really believed that’s what happened.
Now, of course, Bobby’s claiming to have information on a murder, and from the preview we got for this week, it sure seems like he’s going to be talking about Li. On the one hand, maybe he just wants to play Hannibal Lector to get in Jada’s good graces. Maybe he doesn’t actually know anything about the murder. But we do admit we find the idea that he’s involved in Li’s death somehow intriguing. Everett popped up just before the murder, which does seem awfully suspicious.
But despite his coy reaction to Jada asking if Bobby was the one who committed the crime, it seems doubtful he did the deed himself. It certainly wouldn’t help him win over Jada if he did. Plus, what would his motive have been?
So what if he just saw something that’ll help the case? Maybe he went to visit Li for some reason and spotted someone leaving the scene of the crime. If that’s the case, we’re back to the big question: Who did kill Li?
Well, we’ve got a theory — and it’s a doozy. Because, it turns out, as Soap Opera Digest reports, Connie is back on the canvas on Friday, July 5th… just as, according to spoilers, Jada and Rafe are trying to get to the bottom of Bobby’s claims. Remember Connie? She was Sloan’s client, threw a drink on Chad for cheating on Abigail (in a scene that was aired only online) and, the last time we saw her, went on a disastrous date with Li.
And she’s popping up again now of all times? Coincidence? Maybe… But maybe not!
Back when she and Li were on that blind date, Connie was thrilled that he could be an attempted murderer. Li, of course, feigned innocence, only for Connie to tell him how disappointed she was. She loved true crime and “bad boys” and had never been as turned on as she was listening to the podcast about how he brainwashed Harris to try to murder Stefan. That’s more than a little worrisome, isn’t it?
Heck, it’s got all the makings of a deranged fan, just waiting for the slightest push to tip her over into homicide! We never saw how that date ended, or how she felt when Li dropped her flat. The first time she appeared in that cut scene headwriter Ron Carlivati shared, she threw a drink on Chad for cheating on Abigail.
Back when Soaps.com chatted with Julie Dove, she shared that she got where Connie was coming from when she attacked Chad. “I had had someone cheat on me before,” she explained. “It broke my heart. And I really tapped into that in the speech. And I really felt it in the moment.”

If she was channeling that, then that’s what Connie was feeling, too. That in itself is fine, but put personal heartbreak together with a fascination with all things murder, and you could get a dangerous combination. Maybe Connie had been jilted in the past and now that kind of loss in love just drives her utterly mad. Maybe her and Li’s date ended disastrously and we never saw it. Maybe she tried reconnecting with him for months and he kept turning her down until Connie finally just… snapped.
Bobby could have spotted Connie fleeing the scene of the crime. He was new in town and Li was a prominent, if disgraced businessman, so maybe Bobby figured he was the perfect person to turn to to establish himself. Maybe he had more nefarious reasons for going to see him. Either way, all it would have taken was to get a glimpse, then tuck that information away for use later. Bobby certainly wouldn’t have wanted to say anything back when he first showed up, long before anyone knew he even existed.
What are your thoughts? It seems like we’re constantly getting new information about who could have killed Li, but Connie would make a great scapegoat if the show didn’t want to send a major character off to jail!
