Sometimes soap operas kill off characters, other times they get rid of entire storylines out of nowhere. Then there’s Days of Our Lives, which just did both when Connie murdered Bobby and framed him for Rafe’s stabbing. In one fell swoop, the show put an end to Bobby, Everett and their entire alternate personality storyline.
RELATED STORY
It’s not a total surprise, as much of the “Beverett” storyline was conceived during the Writers’ Strike. If this wasn’t the direction the returning writers had intended for Everett when he was first introduced, it makes sense that they’d want to just wipe the slate clean and move storyline in another direction.
We never got any answers as to what happened to fracture his mind. We never got to see him integrated and healed, or find out if he’d ever make it work with Stephanie, or make amends with Jada. We guess it’s just one of those things we’ll have to let go of and move on. Luckily, it helps that Elia Cantu gave Blake Berris a proper farewell.
“Jada and Bobby may’ve had a toxic relationship on screen but Blake Berris and I get along just fine,” she wrote on Instagram, while sharing a mix of behind-the-scenes videos and photos and shots from the show. “In fact, I’m gonna miss working with him on Days of Our Lives. Blake, you’re an incredible actor; fearless, present, and always respectful. Your passion for the craft is infectious and I enjoyed being the Jada to your Bobby!”
Judging by the comments, Cantu won’t be the only one missing Berris, Bobby and Everett. Fan Nancy Greenberg wrote, “I would’ve loved to see more of the Bobby/Everett story play out. What happened in his past with his Mom and Dad? Or was that him being manipulative?”
And jskee220 commented, “This storyline left a big cliffhanger. There has to be another twin coming.”
The twin idea gained quite a bit of traction in the comments, which, we suppose, would give Berris a third (or is that fourth?) character to play on Days of Our Lives. Sure, twins may be a bit overdone, but it could give us a chance to find out more about Everett’s parents and his childhood, and maybe even give the show a new character who could more closely fulfill what the writers originally intended for Everett before the strike hit.
But while this is Salem and bringing in Everett’s twin wouldn’t even make us blink, we won’t be holding our breath in this case. But there are still plenty more characters out there just waiting to be created, so we wouldn’t be all that surprised if we saw Berris again somewhere down the line. And maybe next time, he and Cantu can give that onscreen chemistry they had a real test run!
