There was plenty of movement this week as Days of Our Lives pushed Connie closer to discovery, showed us that Gabi’s likely just as vicious as ever and pulled out a genuine surprise for its Friday cliffhanger. It’s not clear yet where everything is heading, which is a nice change from storylines so obvious, we just tune out!
Abigail… Greene??
I was not expecting that Friday ending. I figured Abigail was talking to Clyde on the phone, but Dr. Greene?! Yes, I’ve heard the rumors about her connection to the Greenes, but I’m dismissing a lot of them until we learn what the connection actually is. Is Mark a villain? Or is there something else going on? And what if Mark’s not the only person Abigail has been talking to on the phone?
I think the idea of playing with Abigail’s return and potentially giving us a fake one irked a lot of folks, but this is a story I’m invested in now. Days of Our Lives could still drop the ball, but I want to figure out what’s going on. And that’s in no small part thanks to AnnaLynne McCord’s performance as Maybe Abigail.
I’m not ready to put quotes around her name yet and declare her a fake because she keeps acting like someone genuinely horrified to learn salacious details about her past would act. This week, her “I did what?!” reaction to learning she slept with EJ and Stefan and — actually Chad burst in before his big bro could tell her that she murdered Andre, but the point is, her reaction was believable.
And that makes the mystery all the more interesting over whether she is Abigail or not. At first glance, it seems like she’s a fake. But what if she really does believe she’s Abigail — hence her horror as she learns about her checkered past — and is just being forced to go along with whatever scheme is happening?

Then again, after meeting with Mark, what if she believes she’s a part of the Greene family? What if she is? I have no idea what the truth is and I love when something’s not obvious.
Dangerous Games
We got real Li back! Well, real imaginary Li. But were we supposed to think Melinda had died? Because I had thought she was just drugged unconscious and wasn’t nearly as surprised as Connie when she moved. Maybe it’s because in real time, she’d been laying on that couch for days, and that seemed odd if she were dead. Now that she’s a hostage, though, I’m feeling better about her survival.
As for Gabi, she’s clearly got more planned for revenge now that EJ goaded her into staying in the DiMera mansion. That’s what I expected from her. Though throwing away her marriage like this seems a bit extreme. But that’s Gabi.
Stray Thoughts…
- EJ’s delighted gasp, grin and “Oh, my!” when Gabi told him Stefan slept with Ava was my highlight of the week. I love Dan Feuerriegel’s performances.
- Sophia going after Tate and ignoring his protests… I’m not sure how I feel about her turning predatory teen girl. We know this wouldn’t fly if it was a guy doing it.
- Chanel’s comment to Alex and Johnny about not reigniting the Kiriakis/DiMera feud the day after I pondered that’s where this Body and Soul stuff would lead was kind of exciting!
- No, I didn’t forget about Sarah, Xander, Fiona and Brady, but talk about their mess this week in our new Rewind and Fast-Forward feature!
