It may seem odd, to put it mildly, that Connie’s out to get revenge for Li on Days of Our Lives seeing as how she murdered him, moved into his house and is hallucinating conversations with her dead, less-than-understanding victim…
When we spoke with Julie Dove, she made Connie’s goal crystal clear. And unfortunately for the unsuspecting folks in Salem, that old maxim about it being about the journey, not the destination, doesn’t apply here. Connie’s willing to do anything and everything to get to her destination, no matter what crops up and who she hurts.
“The end game is to make Gabi and Melinda pay,” Dove lays out. “That is something I stated very clearly to Li at our breakfast. It doesn’t matter how she accomplishes that, that’s the only thing she wants to do.”
Julie Dove opens up about a real-life murder
That last part is key. Because Connie isn’t some brilliant mastermind who has it all planned out. She’s just doing whatever she has to whenever she has to.
“She’s making it up as she goes,” Connie’s portrayer explains. “She killed Li and she was like, ‘I’m gonna make Gabi and Melinda pay.’ Well, then she found out that this guy Bobby, Everett, whoever he is, may know that she killed Li. So her plans for Melinda and Gabi had to be sidestepped with the idea of hiding that she killed Li. Obstacles just keep getting in the way of her even getting started on making Gabi pay.”
Killing people and ruining lives aren’t a problem for Connie, because she’s treating it all like a “‘To Do list.’ This is 100 percent like, ‘I have to get these things done.’” Her initial revenge was thrown out of whack when Gabi got out of prison, Dove says. “So now Connie’s got to come up with new plans, and as soon as she started those new plans, she found out that Bobby saw her in the park. So now, these killings are like checking off a grocery list of items for her.”
Li’s dead. Rafe’s in a coma, and now Bobby/Everett is gone too. So who could be next? Well, for one thing, Connie overheard Kristen talking to Ava about her affair with Stefan. If Ava finds out Connie knows her secret, she could try tangling with Gabi’s psychotic assistant to keep her mouth shut. And much like Bobby, she could drastically underestimate Connie and end up with her own poisoned cup of coffee!
And Kristen? We could see Connie trying to frame Gabi once again by killing DiMera’s CEO and making it seem like a desperate, murderous power grab perpetrated by Gabi and Stefan.
Then there’s Melinda. She’s already suspicious of Connie after finding out she moved into Li’s old apartment. And we know Connie wants her to pay for hurting Li. While she seems happy to use Ava’s affair to ruin Gabi’s life with Stefan, if Melinda starts digging too much into DiMera’s cheerful new employee, she may have to pay with her life.

We also wouldn’t put Stephanie and Jada in the safe category either. They’re bound to dig into Bobby’s confession and if they start figuring out he was murdered, they may have to be taken out as well.
And there’s no telling what Rafe remembers from his attack or if he caught Connie at all in the act. So she may have to make another play for him as well! In short, virtually no one is safe.
For now, Dove isn’t spilling any secrets about who or what is next. But she does know Connie isn’t exactly endearing herself with fans as she kills her way through Salem. And that’s OK.
“I think I’m doing my job if you hate Connie the character,” she says. “She’s driving fans crazy, I think is maybe a better term. I think people are shocked at her psychosis level.”
We certainly are. Because it means no one is safe if they cross Connie, intentionally or not. So who’s next? That we’ll have to wait and see.
